Preliminary Exercise: Editing in Film (Pt 2)

There is a wide variety of editing techniques. In this preliminary exercise we learned a lot of but I will only be telling you about 5 of the editing techniques we learned. The first one is the J-cut is a technique in which the spectator hears a portion of a scene before seeing it. Another technique is the dissolve shot, as a transition, a dissolve occurs when one scene covers another. The third technique is cross cutting, cross cutting depicts two events occurring at distinct times, but they are cut back to one at a time. The forth technique is continuity editing, continuity editing is just ensuring that one shot links with another. The last technique is cutaway editing, cutaway editing occurs when one shot in a film abruptly transitions to another. Editing is a very creating and tricky part of creating a movie. When I start to create my movie I hope to get a better understand on the concepts from trial and error.
