Preliminary Exercise: Introduction to Sound Post (Pt 1)

Sound in film refers to anything that can be heard in the film. The three primary things you hear when watching a movie are conversation, music, and sound effects. Dialogue refers to the talk that takes place in a film or book. This helps to support cinema since it provides context and foundation for the picture, so it's not simply images and do you comprehend what's going on. Background music in films is like that added touch to the movie in that one scary scene when you hear that foreboding music as the person is being hunted by the evil guy. Finally, there are sound effects. Sound effects provide more emotion to the picture than language and music, for example, one door creaking open, glass shattering, and so on. This enhances the picture because it gives it more body, which makes it more exciting and makes you want to see more, such as where did the sounds of the glass breaking originate from and what caused it.
